here's two images which couldn't be more culturally
distinct or geographically opposed - one's from Sweden
and the other Thailand .... yet inexplicably they bear
such a striking visual sameness. hmmnn ...

I must admit dear reader that I'm perplexed, ... how
could two so diametrically distinct cultures arrive at
such aesthetically similar solutions ? any ideas ? If
anyone dare suggests Aliens, I'll smack you so hard
your dog will fall over !

Perhaps one was inspired by the other but we just dont know who was first...
or maybe there is a universal language to art aesthetics that transcends cultures and that is deeply wired in our brain circuitry since the beginning of time.

Then again they might have done it on purpose just to mess with our heads.

the Swedish structure is much older than the particular Thai example I chose, its from the 18th.C, and while both are religious in nature, I can't imagine that either was to somehow influence the other, to cross-pollinate as it were, as they're so far removed from the other.

They just seem to be so isolated, so entirely distinct.
Your idea of a transcedent aesthetic may be it ... hmmn ...
