Everybody please check out Nick Dewar's work. He's a Scottish illustrator working in the US whose work is technically astute and wonderfully inventive, yet astonishingly simple. Which proves, or at least should argue, that things don't need to be complicated to be interesting, and that a good creative idea, trumps technique every time. His name plate is linked. There is an interesting page where he has a questions and answers section, questions asked by students .... the icons on the top right will take you there.

Really great work. It makes me want to dress up in a suit, use a straight edge and call my buddy Don Draper for a mid-day drink.

Yes it is Wes, but there's a very sad story attached.

An artist friend of mine turned me on to his web site, as he was, It turns out, a friend of a friend in the bizz.

I figured my friend had ironically introduced me to Dewar in order to produce designer envy, which upon seeing the work immediately did of course.

I wrote a letter back (an ironic tongue in cheek version) to my friend sarcastically thanking him and informing him of that fact that while I admired the work, I hated the artist ( meant completely absurdly of course) - my friend then, mentioned, that Scott had just died...... whew
