a "personal project" by young designer Ritxi Ostariz from Bilbao Spain,
check out his design work, paper engineering and short animation. Really
superb work, full of whit, charm and first class technical execution. Wow !

if only

all it took was a cool name to be cool, what a wonderful world it would be ...

..... once, long ago, a wonderful teacher of mine gathered a few keen ( aka cool ) students together to tell us a special secret.

It was that if we wanted to be famous ( not necessarily good ) ..., he said he knew the secret, the key .... ( or one of the very few keys)

He said, conspiratorily, that one had to have a sound track, devise a way of attaching oneself to or ensuring to being identified with, some form of music, like Lautrec and the the Folie Bergere, and Picasso and Stravinsky or even Warhol and the Velvet Underground. ( I could go on, forvever )

Then he gave us all, each, a funny little and modestly pornographic sketch of each of us, up on a galloping horse, all smiling and all yelling ( I don't know either)

When I left that school, ( yes, the cops were closing in )

I can remember sentimentally clutching that sketch and thinking about all the crazy, impossible things he said, and now I realize decades, ok epochs later, that he was in most ways, astonishingly accurate.

Don't copy others, be inspired by them, find your own soundtrack, it is the only way.

... it's really just that "ani" makes me think of orphans and cowgirls and i am neither.

do you still have this sketch of you on a galloping horse? it sounds fantastic...

regarding your nomenclature, Ani is a wonderful beginning and rife with associations.

Ani Sprinkle, Ani mation, ani mal, ani versary, so don't feel so hard done by, they could have named you Chastity or Fried Sheila or Brittany, you get the point.
