D1 & 2 Please browse this linked site. Called Colour Lovers, it's a web site dedicated to colour, for research, inspiration and expression. Much like Kuler colour, (as well very much worth a visit) you can discuss colour with other people, download patterns and color pallettes, directly to your desktop for use in design. Many of the colour combination represent real ingenuity and skill in working with colour. They are really useful and can improve your work dramatically.

Design one, please peruse the I Love Typography web site. During the next couple of weeks we will be discussing type, its history, design and contemporary uses. It may seem to you to be a relatively small part of design, but it is an essential aspect - as much as colour, line or concept is. Many interesting designs have failed due to the designers lack of type awareness. So check the site out, especially the popular and recent articles sections found on the right side of the page, and please read sections 1 to 4 of "History of Typography", it's a great site. the word typography is linked

Everybody please check out Nick Dewar's work. He's a Scottish illustrator working in the US whose work is technically astute and wonderfully inventive, yet astonishingly simple. Which proves, or at least should argue, that things don't need to be complicated to be interesting, and that a good creative idea, trumps technique every time. His name plate is linked. There is an interesting page where he has a questions and answers section, questions asked by students .... the icons on the top right will take you there.

D1&2, please visit Wesley's portfolio site. An entry portfolio for
admission to design school, Wesley has given a lot of thought towards
its design, and throughout its manufacture he's maintained a very high level
of precision and a deft awareness of the materials he is using.
This level of expertise, is something to aspire towards in design. Concise,
elegantly simple and fluently expressed, the project represents careful
planning, certainly numerous trail and error phases, but above all, an
appreciation of its design and an attention to its detail.
Everything matters, it must fit seamlessly together, and like a violin,
it must, before all else, suit its purpose.
