THINGS MOST REMARKABLE #5
Painting number one is a painting of Cupid. Women in this painting are pregnant. Each of them is carrying some tools like a mop, a bucket and planting tools. They look sad and tired. The oranges have faces. They look like babies. Their eyes are close, as if they are sleeping. Cupid looks like he’s sleeping too. He’s holding a shovel. Maybe he planted those oranges. I think this painting shows how women are suffering because of love, because of Cupid. I believe that the cleaning and planting tools, the expression of their face and their big belly which carry the fruit of their relationship with the man they have fallen in love with, thanks to Cupid, show that because of love, because Cupid made them fall in love, they have become suffering women who stays home to clean and plant, while they are carrying a child. I think the oranges symbolize the fetus. I think the idea of this painting is “Cupid is the cause of those women’s pregnancy and suffering”
Painting number two is a painting of aristocrats partying and gambling. In this paining, there is some old man, picking up the candle with something from the table in which those aristocrats are playing. If you look closely to that man, you will see that his eyes are aiming the cards of the lady in front of him. His eyebrows are all up, his eyes are wide and so his smile. He is spying on the girl. He’s looking at her cards. The expression of his face shows that the girl has good cards. Her face is calm. She doesn’t look nervous or worried at all. So she must have really good cards. I think the idea of this painting is” be careful, for you don’t know who is watching you” and that “people always have their ways to find out what you are hiding.” I also think the other idea of this painting is “your true enemy is not always part of the game, he’s not always on the stage, but in the backstage” or “ a slick cheater is like Satan, in the garden of Eden, disguise in snake” (meaning, a good cheater is a good pretender, he acts and hides his true colours).
